01 ABOUT ME

FROM BEGIN, TO NOW, TO NEXT

Where to begin... I started my studies in 2014 as a graphic design at ROC Midden Nederland, quickly I had learned the fun of the profession, the excitement of getting a job done and finding new ways to create new material and solving problems. You could say I was hooked from the start.

In the second year the internship started, I had the pleasure of working together with MostWantIT to create UX designs and social media material for a diverse group of customers, we worked with a small team of 4 interns to make the best we could offer and the customers loved it. We were asked to pitch in with our own ideas lots of times, which helped me develop a even more keen sense for concept designing.

In the third, I struck gold with my new internship, working together with my team to create amazing boardgames at JustGames. I was given complete freedom over the gameplay, which needed to fit the demographic and the franchise we were working with. Next to this I also had to figure out the sizes of the games, the material, the prices and of course I had to write down all the rules in the most clear way I could. The boardgames I have worked on are: Rupsje Nooitgenoeg Memory, Shaun het Schaap Pizzaspel, De 3 Wijzen spel, Doe een dier na and My Zoo

In my final year I worked as an intern at Social Elephant, which is an excellent company created by a very driven man. This was more DTP and UX design orientated and I learned a lot as well. Created a wide selection of webdesigns and social media material there and left them fully satisfied.

After my studies it was quite literally like I fell out of the frying pan and into the fire, starting my life as a graphic designer at a commercial studio called CreaBea (nowadays known as 5th Corner). It was quite a turbulent way to start, we had many customers to work with, for example: Haribo, Usabilla, Dorivit, TIP Europe, Almere City F.C. and Jan Zandbergen. Here I learned a lot about the ins and outs of graphic designing, created too many products to count and grew not only as a designer, but as a man, with the best team I could ever wish for.

In 2020 I started working for a two companies in one, Wetronic and WIMA Models. Bringing a wide variety of work from offline material (stickers, posters, packaging and promotional material. and online material (webdesign, systemdesign, social media). Mid in my first year contract I also took it upon me to work in the Wetronic store, meaning I had to juggle with all my graphic design tasks and making sure the store runs smoothly together with my colleague. I learned much already from this job, but I was looking for a new challenge, something which lets me grow yet again as a person and graphic designer.

Since 2020 and onward, I have been very active in the Trading Card Game industry by helping multiple stores out with their design and communication. From here I also started doing graphic designing for Trading Card Game tournaments and events, which till this day has brought me a lot of opportunities and I enjoy doing it on a voluntary basis, in my portfolio you will see plenty of works for Bandai Card Games, which has been a very recent endeavour.

In 2023 I started working at Blue Bird Media, a fairly small company that has been making steady growth by combining graphic design, photography and web development, focusing on starting companies. Here I did a lot of graphic design work for restaurants, online stores and cryptocoin companies. Sadly the employee that was in charge over sales and the loss of our biggest customer at the time, the amount of graphic design work became less and less, eventually degrading to only making easy social media content, I decided to end my partnership and look for a better challenge that suited my currently developed skill set.

In 2024 I found D.P. Factory, where I have been working till this day. We work for companies like the Lidl, Action, Efteling and many more. Creating products from diamond paintings to notebooks and pens. It has been an amazing experience to focus more on the technical side of graphic designing, gaining knowledge of producing something from scratch.

While working there, something has become apparent to me. Creating products is fun, but i really missed everything else I used to do. Brainstorming, making wonderful concepts  and working those out in the finest of details. I would like to return back to my roots which I had planted in 2019, and use all my gathered experiences and knowledge to excel in my field and create stories together.
